Group messaging, aka group text messaging, is an awesome feature of iPhones and iPads running iOS 10 and iOS 11. As your message evolves, you may want to include more people, or maybe add a video or two. To be clear, there are two types of Group iMessages, Group iMessage and Group Messages.

Apple uses the term “Group” when everyone in the group is using an iPhone. This allows you to add/delete members to your text group. In fact, group messages are being sent via the text messaging function of the cellular phone network, as active users are using a mixture of iPhones and Android devices.

How to Start a Group Text

There are several other apps on the market that allow group texting, but for this particular article, we’ll be focusing on the ubiquitous iMessage app that most iPhone and iPad users use every day.

One of the great things about Apple products is the ability to use the iMessage application on various devices.

Add Someone To A Group Text On The IPhone

First, invite someone to your group chat using the link provided. Once they’re in your group chat, share something that interests you. Then, ask them what interests them.
The options listed below apply to all Apple products, including the Mac, MacBook, iPhone, and iPad.
Tap to open the Messages app, located at the bottom of your screen.
Tap the back button to back out of any conversation you’re already in. From the Home screen, tap on the + symbol to the left of the clock, tap on the New Message icon,
You can type in the individual’s names you want to invite into the “To:” area. If the invitees are people already located in your address book, you can just start typing their name or phone number. You can also tap the + icon in order to browse through your contacts. To send a message to a specific person, just type the name followed by a colon and a space. To: TheNameSpace. If you are planning to add people who are using an iPhone, you can type in their Apple ID instead.
You have now added all intended recipients into the To: field.
Write out the message you want to send out. You can use all caps, lowercase,

Everyone in this group will now receive the same message. This allows all members of this group to reply and see one another’s replies as well.

It’s very important to keep in mind that not all emojis or animations will work for all individuals within the group.

How to Add Someone to a Group Text

You do a lot of things:

Open your email application (such as Apple Mail or Gmail). Find the message that you wish to delete, and tap on the Trash icon.
Select the conversation that you want to add an individual to and tap to open it.
Tap on the Info icon (looks like a little i in a circle) at the top right-hand side of the screen.
To Add a contact, type out the name of the person you want to add, or if they are not located in your address book, type out their phone number.

How to Remove Someone from a Group Text

If you’d like to delete the conversation, click “Delete Group Conversation” next to the name of the group.

Once you’ve reached the contacts list, you can swipe the contact’s name to the left to view the contact’s details.

Tap the option to Remove and confirm the task when it pops up. MacBook and Mac users will see an option to Delete.

How to Leave the Group Message Conversation

When you’ve got too much going on, you just don’t care anymore.

Leave a group conversation by simply leaving it when there are three or more people in a conversation. If the conversation is done, you can:

Open up the Messages app and tap the conversation that you’d like to liberate yourself from.
Tap the Information icon.
You can quickly click on the option to Leave this Conversation listed in bright red and located at the bottom of the page.
Tap the confirmation option when it appears, and you won’t be notified of this activity again.

Group messaging is an outstanding feature, but some people don’t enjoy constant updates and alerts on their phones. Facebook is a great way to promote a specific event or group that you want to target.

Troubleshooting for Group iMessages

If you’re looking to network with large groups of people, you’ll find another messaging application to be more effective.
Google Hangouts, Slack, and more are available in the App Store.
These apps can be used across multiple platforms and operating systems, so you don’t have to rely on just one.
Adding more than 4 members is possible with an Amazon Prime subscription. To see if your plan will support this, contact Amazon Prime customer service.
This may be due to incorrect contacts. If you’ve ever synced your contacts with your email, you may have some with email addresses instead of phone numbers.
If you’re using an iCloud email address for the Amazon Kindle app, this feature will work with iCloud accounts but it might not work for other emails.
Verify that the contact you’re trying to add is the correct one.
Another issue you may have when adding a contact to a group iMessage is trying to add someone with Screen Time limits.
With the addition of Apple’s Screen Time comes users’ ability to shut down features of their Apple devices, including iMessage.
If you’re having trouble adding a contact to your Facebook page it might be a good idea to ask them if they have those limits set.
